About your tour

Join us on our Introduction to Florence & Uffizi - Florence City Tour combination. You will get a tour of Florence, witness its mesmerizing, medieval beauty first-hand, stop off at its various famous sites and then move on to the opulence and splendour of the renowned Uffizi Gallery on what is basically a full day tour of Florence.

Your full day tour of Florence starts at our city centre office and its root includes all the famous attractions Florence is famous for.  You will visit the romantic Ponte Vecchio and Piazza della Republica as well as Piazza della Signoria.

This combination tour will then lead on to a tour of the world famous Uffizi Gallery.

One of the world’s top museums and art galleries, La Galleria Degli Uffizi was constructed in the late 16th century by Architect and Artist Giorgio Vasari, whose famous corridor acted as an emergency escape route for the powerful Florentine families in case of crisis. It runs above street level from building to building, crossing the river at the Ponte Vecchio, and now holds many famous pieces of art as well.

The long line of people at the entrance waiting to get in can put some visitors off, however, with all IWU tours you get priority entrance, no queues!     The Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge) crosses the Arno River, and is a made of stone consisting of three segmental arches. The bridge is famous for its jewelry shops along with art dealers and souvenir sellers. Originally butchers shops occupied this bridge which is believed to date back to ancient Roman times.

    Piazza della Signoria is named after the Palazzo della Signoria, nowadays know as Palazzo Vecchio which overlooks this L-shaped square. The piazza is the main point of origin of the Florentine Republic and has been the focus of political life in Florence since the 14th century.

    Piazza della Repubblica has marked the center of Florence city since ancient Roman times, and is home to the Giubbe Rosse Café, where famous early 20th century artists and writers used to meet.

    The Baptistery Doors form part of the Florence Baptistery and are part of the Florence Duomo complex. The three sets of doors are famous for their bronze relief sculptures, created by Andrea Pisano during the 14th century, and Lorenzo Ghiberti during the 15th century.
